I’ll tell you a story that happened only a few months ago that involves suicide.

My Cousin, no I’m not going to tell you his name but we’ll just call him Dan, he is 17 and was dating this girl for ages. He was madly in love with her, wanted to marry her and have kids and all. He then found out this girl that he loved so much was cheating on him with his mate. It destroyed him, he started going through serious depression. His girlfriend, we’ll just call her Amy, was still in love. Amy told Dan that it was a mistake, Dan decided he will hurt her just as bad as she hurt him by having “revenge”. He started taking drugs, he wasn’t my Dan anymore, the guy who was always there, the guy that would act like my older brother. He was a monster. No one really payed much attention to how he was acting and his appearance, no lie he looked like death himself. Dan finally told me everything, from where Amy broke up to him then the drugs. I knew he was lying by the revenge bit, he was doing the drugs to try and make him happy. After about a week of knowing this, I started seeing the cuts that were going vertically up his arm, I started to questioning him, he then told him he was having suicidal thoughts. He had it all planned out, he had a few, but the one that stand out the most was when, he told me that he knows where the key is for the paddlock on the garage door that was down the back of his house where his dad kept his gun for when he went hunting. Dan was going to shoot himself, put the gun in his mouth then bang. I heard enough, I don’t like black mailing but I told him if he kills himself, I would kill myself too, knowing too well that he wouldn’t try doing it. He started to open up to people about it, so he could get some help. He never told his parents until 2 weeks ago because he thought they would disown him. He is now getting better, he’s got a new girlfriend who makes him happy. I’m starting to see real smilies. I still cry occasionally when hearing about suicide. I could of lost my cousin, we were joined at the hip. It would of destroyed me. 

Dan never thought anyone would care, just like the majority of the suicide victims. Reality, we do care, there is always someone out there that cares. If you don’t think anyone cares, just remember I do and my ask box is open to everyone.
